Tax Planning for Possible TCJA Sunset: Tax Strategies for 2024 and Beyond

This presentation will review the possible changes from the TCJA Sunset that will impact Individuals, including tax rates, standard deduction, personal exemptions, child and family credit, AMT, and the itemized deductions limit known as the “Pease Limitation.” It will review the possible business provisions, including business loss limitations, bonus depreciation, IRC §179 expensing provisions, and the Qualified Business Income (QBI) deduction. The speaker will discuss Roth IRA conversions, including rate bracket management and estate planning considerations. Estate and Gift tax changes, including the reduction of the estate basic exclusion amount, the claw back provisions for gifts made prior to the sunset, and planning techniques for calendar years 2024 and 2025 will also be discussed. The speaker will also present a simplified case study to demonstrate the importance of pre-sunset planning.
