This live, online group Zoom webinar has been approved for 2 hours of IRS Ethics Continuing Education. To earn 2 hours of IRS Ethics CE, attendees should be logged in for at least 100 minutes of the presentation not including announcements and answer at least three of four polling questions during each CE hour. Registration is required to attend.
In autopsying the different parts of a tax professional, the speaker examines how to become a tax professional, the particular steps to becoming an Enrolled Agent and maintaining that status, and how a tax professional’s credentials and select qualifications affect rights to representing taxpayers. The speaker stresses the importance of the Internal Revenue Code, its statutes, IRS regulations, revenue rulings, and other clarifications in guiding the tax professional, and provides a comprehensive look at how the ability of the tax professional to effectively communicate with clients assists in accurate tax preparation and dispute resolution. The speaker discusses educational and background training for various levels of tax services including tax preparation and filing, tax planning and advisory services, tax controversy and representation, as well as the qualifications of tax examiners, collectors, and revenue agents. The presentation ends with a discussion on how to demonstrate good judgment in dealing with clients and tax issues.
Upon completion of the presentation, tax professionals will:
- Know the first steps to becoming a tax professional.
- Be able to identify the steps to becoming an Enrolled Agent and how to maintain the credential.
- Recognize the differences in the various credentials and select qualifications of tax professionals.
- Understand the importance of applying IRS rules and regulations in their practices.
- Be challenged to practice effective communication with their clients.
- Understand that different levels of tax services require different levels of training.
- Appreciate the roles our heads, mouth, ears, nose, hands, feet and heart play in the tax professional’s life.
